Journeys

I am on three journeys. I have decided this blog will be the forum to catalog these journeys. By sharing this way, I hope to invite other people into these journeys with me. You can read, comment, question, or support me via this medium.

My family will be joining me on these three journeys, because I can not go anywhere for long without them. I am fortunate to have a loving, supportive wife and kids. While I refer to these journeys as mine, I view the whole family traveling together and working together.

The first journey is to ko dan ja. That is, I will be testing for my fourth degree black belt in San Kil Tang Soo Do next summer. I began the test once before and chose not to complete it. I am not a bit rusty and I have to contend with age, practice time, and my emotional state as I enter into the test. On the plus side, my son, Joshua, has been an outstanding workout partner.

The second journey is to a Masters of Divinity. I am a seminary student at Asbury Theological Seminary. I have completed 1 1/2 years and I have 2 1/2 years to go. I take minimum full load and it keeps me super busy. I find the classes both stimulating and challenging. One of the biggest challenges, however, is to keep an appropriate amount of time set aside for family.

The third journey is into missions. My family plans to be missionaries through Global Partners after graduation. We have just completed our initial applications and we have many steps before we are done. Currently, our big decision is location. We are praying for discernment of where God is calling us to be. We invite everyone to join in this prayer for us. We are looking for a vision of the ministry God has chosen for us.

That is a quick summary. I pray that this blog will bless the reader and the writer.

Blessings,
Brian

Hey! I have a blog!

Never say never.

I once said I would never have a blog.

Now I blog, tweet, facebook, and feel old because this is so foreign.

Therefore I ask YOU to help me utilize these social network tools to enhance my real life social encounters.

I feel so lame. I think I'm going to watch www.hulu.com now...
